Sikh hoops 2025 Rules

We follow all NCAA Rules with the exception of specific rules listed below. 

  • You will have two 20-minute halves. The 1st half is a running clock, except the final minute. The 2nd half will be running clock, except the final 2 minutes. If the lead is over 20 points, the clock will continue to run without stoppage. A 30 second shot clock will be implemented during the entirety of the game. The shot clock will reset to 30 seconds on all rebounds and fouls. Referees also hold the right to ask for time to stop in case of foul or any injuries. 

  • Each team receives 3 timeouts for the game.

  • In the case of overtime, 2 minutes will be put on the clock and each team will receive an extra timeout. Clock will stop on all made baskets, fouls, free throws, possession changes, and jump balls.

  • Cursing or taunting is not allowed; anyone caught will receive a technical foul by the referees or by the commission if they hear it. Any kind of unsportsmanship-like conduct will result in an automatic ejection (All technical fouls will count as a personal foul)

  • A minimum of 4 players must be present for a team to start the game. If a team does not show at the time of the scheduled game, the clock will run until the 12-minute mark, if they do not show until then, the game will be deemed a forfeit.

  • Each player is allowed 5 personal fouls. After your 5th foul that player is ejected from the game. If a player receives 2 technical fouls or 2 flagrant fouls, that player is ejected from the game. If the flagrant foul was too excessive, the referee can eject him from the game after his 1st flagrant foul.

  • Each team must have matching jerseys with numbers – taped on numbers will not be accepted. Captain must confirm players are wearing the correct jersey numbers with the scorekeeper prior to the start of the game. 

  • Each player must provide State or Federal issued Identification prior to their scheduled games. You must bring the physical document, photo copies and pictures will not be accepted. High School IDs will not be accepted.

  • Each player must complete the waiver form prior to their scheduled games.

  • In the Elite Division, you are allowed 2 Non-Punjabi Guest per team of South Asian Descent. Each guest is subject to approval by the Sikh Hoops Committee.

  • In the Juniors Division, you are allowed 2 Non-Punjabi Guests per team of South Asian Descent. Each guest is subject to approval by the Sikh Hoops Committee. 

  • In the Future Division, you are allowed 2 Non-Punjabi Guests per team of South Asian Descent. Each guest is subject to approval by the Sikh Hoops Committee.

  • There will be a 35 point cap per game. A teams winning margin will be capped at 35 points, no matter how large the actual score difference.
